Favourite Prince De Beauchene withdraws after injury

JOHN Smith’s Grand National favourite Prince De Beauchene has been ruled out of the Aintree spectacular after suffering an injury.

Following an unsatisfactory gallop at Fairyhouse, a scan revealed the Willie Mullins-trained nine-year-old had suffered a hairline fracture to his hip, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Scots owner Graham Wylie said: “It’s disappointing but that’s horses. It’s better we discovered it now than during the race.”
