Police treating park man’s death as suspicious
A MAN has died after being found with serious injuries in an Edinburgh park.
He was discovered by police officers in the grounds of Saughton Park in west Edinburgh around 7:20am yesterday.
Lothian and Borders Police said that he later died from the injuries and the death is being treated as suspicious.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area near the park entrance on Fords Road to contact them. Detective Inspector Stuart Houston said yesterday: “Saughton Park is regularly used by dog walkers and various other members of the public.
“We are keen to speak to those who were in or around the park area between 6:50am and 7:20am today, particularly around the entrance to Fords Road, and would ask them to contact police immediately.
“Similarly, anyone with any other information that can assist with our enquiries is also asked to come forward.”
High-visibility patrols will be deployed in the local area to engage with members of the public and offer reassurance to the community, Inspector Houston added.
Police forensics personnel were investigating the area around the park, which has been cordoned off to the public.
Details of the man will not be released until next of kin have been informed, police said.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lothian and Borders Police.
Meanwhile, police in Falkirk have arrested a man after a “firearms incident” during the early hours of yesterday.
Officers, including firearms specialists, were called to an address in Ash Grove, in the Westquarter area of Falkirk, at around 1:30am.
A number of properties nearby were evacuated during the incident, and an ambulance crew stood by at the scene.
A 37-year-old man was arrested, and police said a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
