Game of the week: Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

There’s no denying the appeal of the Lego games. The morphing of your favourite characters into plastic blocks is almost worth the price alone. Lego Batman 2 is a big leap for the series as it’s the first open world title, so you can run around Gotham creating all kinds of havoc.

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

Warner Bros Games, PC/PS3/PS Vita/Xbox 360/Wii, £34.99

There is loads to unlock including a host of playable DC heroes and villains. The actual story mode is more rigid. A puzzle game, it’s nicely balanced for kids and adults, with a decent split-screen co-op mode (though some puzzles are badly signposted). The fighting mechanics are repetitive, and some of the AI is wonky but you can’t die so this is all about the exploration.
