Boyd Chooses Bwin Party for Nevada Launch
Commercial Feature
Last month, a Gaming Commission hearing in the state of Las Vegas granted Boyd Interactive Gaming with a license which will allow them to operate real money, online poker products to the Nevada market. Boyd has announced that they plan on using software developed by Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment when they launch in the state.
Bwin.Party, operator of hugely popular online poker website Party Poker, has received a lot interest from licensed companies. Boyd Gaming Corp. and MGM Resorts International have both stated that when they enter the regulated Nevada gambling market, they wish to partner with the online gaming business to develop the products.
Boyd did not wish to develop their own in-house technology, nor were they keen to purchase an existing technology firm to produce the software necessary for online poker games, like many other licensed operators have done. In a statement, a representative of the company said: We knew we didnt want to write code or write a big check to buy an Internet gaming company. After interviewing 18 different organisations for the partnerships, Boyd decided that Bwin.Party was the best choice.
The Boyd products will not be launched in Nevada until Bwin.Party receives the appropriate license to operate in Nevada. An application has been put forward by Bwin.Party but a public hearing has yet to be scheduled to decide the result. The company is likely to be successful in their application, as they withdrew their services from the United States market following the enactment of the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The co-operation with the U.S. Government and consideration for the legislation showed by Bwin.Party will work in their favour when seeking to gain access to the Nevada intra-state market.
Nevada Gaming Officials recently legalised online gambling within the state. However, only residents and players on Nevada soil are permitted to access the Internet games. Therefore, geo-location technology is essential and will be implemented by gaming websites to ensure that neighbouring states, such as Utah where gambling is still illegal, gain no access to the games.
Boyd Gaming have stated that they estimate that licensed companies launching their real money products in the Silver State will generate between $100 - $180 million in revenue annually. Its quite likely that when this all kicks off there will be a string of bonuses going live to celebrate it which you can find out more from the official party poker bonus site
