Letter: Queen puts the fat cats to shame

I AM no royalist but I must admit our Queen has worked tirelessly for 60 years meeting our every expectation and whenever the “going got tough” she ploughed on to the very best of her unique ability, day and night, year after year.

No resignation to retire on a multimillion pound pension, but a dogged determination to overcome all difficulties and work at maintaining the monarchy through more changes in society than any of the rest of us ever have to work.

Remuneration committee members please note: she gave all the above for a good basic income and not a penny of bonus payment.

John Dixon, Edinburgh

No.3: I think no.2's point is that the "art, antiques, horsesreal estate & jewellery" mentioned constitute "bonuses" by ANY definition of the word.

Can anyone see a republican appointee matching that? If so, who, Mr Alex Salmond? Frankie Boyle? Sean Connery?
