WITH Halloween and bonfire night safely out of the way, it feels like we can all relax a bit until the big build-up to you know what starts. (Although my kids did spot our local area’s outdoor tree being put up as we drove by last week, which prompted the inevitable ‘how many sleeps?’ chant.) You might think seeing that tree being readied is what prompted a spot of never-before-attempted early Christmas shopping on my part, but you’d be wrong. The combined forces of my mother and my sister, in an attempt to drag me out of my last-minute approach to most things in life, was what did it.
