SPAIN: King Juan Carlos says he will undergo surgery to his left hip next week. He told government leaders at the Iberoamerican Summit that he has to “go back to the workshop”.
“I’m here, a bit lame, but well,” the 74-year-old monarch – who was using two crutches – told Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santo.
In April, Juan Carlos was flown back from a controversial elephant hunting safari in southern Africa after fracturing his right hip. He has had several health scares recently, including a benign lung tumour.
