Jim Stevens, 63, convenience store owner, Gracemount: "Very good, yeah. He's looking very good for his age. His fingers seemed to get stuck when he was playing guitar but he had an excellent lead guitarist to help him out. I would have liked to have heard some saxophone in amongst it all."
Elspeth Jackson, 44, beautician, Dalkeith: "I liked it in the main, but it did all start to sound the same about three-quarters of the way through. I wouldn't go as far to say the band enjoyed it more than the audience, but I would have liked more singing and less guitar solos. It was a poor turnout but not everyone has money to spend."
Mary Jackson, 65, retired, Abbeyhill: "There's people half John Mayall's age who don't have enough material to play half as long as he did tonight. I like his music and I usually come out to see him once every couple of years or so. A good show, can't complain."
