Two men have died following a crash involving an Asda delivery truck Dumfries and Galloway.

Police said a red Ford Fiesta travelling north on the A713 at Drumjohn, near Carsphairn, was in collision with the white delivery van travelling south at around 10.40am on Friday.

The 46 year old van driver was taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital where he died a short time later. The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 50 year old man, died at the scene.

The A713 was re-opened around 6,45pm.

Sergeant Billy McEwan, of Stranraer Police Office, has appealed for witnesses, particularly the driver of a white flat-bed pickup truck which was in the area at the time, to get in touch.
