Flag poles belonging to Donald Trump have landed the US tycoon in trouble.

The American presidential candidate’s company erected two giant 80ft poles to fly the Saltire at his golf club on the Aberdeenshire coast.

But after complaints from residents, and with no planning permission in place, he has been forced into seeking consent from the planning authority. Officials inspected the site and asked him to submit a retrospective application for the flags.

Applications were lodged to erect a flagpole beside the MacLeod House hotel and near his clubhouse.
