Police have detained seven people following an apparent stabbing in Aberdeen.

The incident happened at about 1.30pm on Thursday outside the College Street car park used by the nearby Union Square shopping centre.

A 41-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Four men and three women who were detained following the incident are assisting officers with their inquiries, police said.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and there is no threat to the wider public.
