The old world masterclass will take a look at grape varieties which are not as well known, such as the likes of cabernet sauvignon and merlot, but produce wines which are just as good and often less expensive. The new world class will focus on the c
ommon complaint that new world wines lack the substance and quality of the old world, and will introduce participants to wine which can achieve the layers of flavour and length celebrated in old-world wines.

LOVELY BUBBLY, 11:30 Saturday and Sunday, www.lovelybubbly.co.uk The champagne experts offer a range of hard-to-get or exclusive brands from their online shop and cater for events. Their masterclasses will be led by their in-house connoisseurs and will take participants through tastings, the history of champagne and the region.

GIN TIME, Masterclass, 2:30pm Saturday and Sunday, www.gintime.com Gin is a spirit with heritage, flavour and character. Gintime, the online guide to everything gin-related, will lead participants in its specialist masterclass through the history of gin and help them discover the pleasures of drinking gin through the tutored tastings.

LEITH LIQUEUR COMPANY, 3:30pm Saturday, www.leithliqueurcompany.co.uk The Leith Liqueur Company came about when two Leithers, both with extensive experience in the drinks industry, identified a gap in the market for a modern malt Scotch whisky liqueur that was a bit different, something aimed at the younger market, that was attractively named and packaged. The Strawberry Kiss was born – a completely new style of whisky drink. The masterclass tells the story of their business venture, which has turned into a worldwide success.
