New threat of strike by civil servants

THE government is facing the threat of a fresh wave of strikes by public-sector workers in a series of disputes over pay involving civil servants, college lecturers and firefighters.
The warning followed a decision by the Public and Commercial Services Union at its annual conference to ballot 280,000 civil servants for industrial action in protest at the below inflation pay deals.

If 280000 civil servants go on strike then each day of the strike will probably save the taxpayer over £30million in salaries that do not have to be paid. Might be quite a good move.

fair comment I just hope your house does not go up in smoke on a day they are out on strike just remember the money (as a taxpayer) you save.

You sound like you have an antiquated idea of what a civil servant is and you probably think they still wear pin strip suits, bowler hats, with a copy of the Times under one arm and umbrella under the other.

Or maybe you think they are like the ones in Yes Minister like Nigel Hawthorne's Sir Humphrey.
