Lord Burlison dies at the age of 71

A LABOUR peer who began his career as a professional footballer and went on to become a trade union leader died yesterday at the age of 71.
Lord Burlison was deputy general secretary of the GMB union and treasurer of the Labour Party in the early 1990s and was made a life peer in 1997.
