A NEW £20,000 sign has been put up next to the public entrance to the Scottish Parliament.
Holyrood bosses decided on the move after a review of visitor services recommended improvements be made to existing signs.

The irregularly-shaped 18ft sign, made of South African granite, reads "Scottish Parliament Public Entrance" in both English and Gaelic.

Edinburgh Pentlands Tory MSP David McLetchie said: "This is a sign of the times – no expense spared to tell people the blindingly obvious."

Yonthing: nobody in the Public Sector is allowed to specify a geographic restriction in procurement of goods... There are laws against it.

In any case, it would probably have cost twice as much using Scottish Granite... That's the unfortunate conundrum.

Quote a bit rich from McLetchie... He spared no expense in getting the taxpayer to pay for taxi rides to his private clients!

Time this was done. The design of the whole building is a disgrace and the front entrance is so unspectacular it's no wonder people need a sign to say it's not the tradesman's entrance.
