In today's exciting episode, the council run an idea up a flagpole but no-one salutes, while school meals get snubbed
The latest proposal from the council to improve the city centre is to spend 1.3 million on flags and bunting and employ a city dressing officer. Here's hoping they can find a few extra quid for tin hats too –if your comments are anything to go by, they'll need them...
"City dressing officer" When/where do I sign? What a job! I hope it attracts a suitable salary.

What a joke. Mind you they can save money as there is no need to buy flagpoles or masts – just hang the flags from the unsightly tram cable pylons that will cover Princes Street.

The axe falls on services that do genuine good for the city but the councillors see fit to spend 1.3 million on flags. I thought the last lot were bad, but the Lib Dems/SNP take the biscuit.
Spout, Edinburgh
The council is completely out of touch. Do they not know this kind of thing is not a good idea after you've made cuts to services for disabled people, etc? Jenny Dawe has shown herself to be completely incompetent. It's time she went.

The flags idea will be discussed by councillors later this week, so watch this space.
Next up, let's delve into your responses to our story about a heathy eating scheme being blamed for a 16% drop in the take-up of school meals.
Unfortunately we'll all have to pay for it in future when the 16% start keeling over and having heart trouble.

If lazy stupid parents are happy for their fat chav children to eat Greggs every day what business is it of ours or any local politico? If you are too stupid to realise that junk food is bad for you then perhaps dying young is the best option.
The Judge
Come on Judge, don't be shy – next time try telling us what you really think. Anyone else want to say something?
No wonder, because our school meals look and taste like sick. And our vending machine got taken away.
Not for you to know
I hope they left the condom machine

Er, thanks Brian. Let's move on. One or two of you may have noticed that following Sunday's Cavalcade, something called 'the Festival' is now under way in the city. Hands up who went to the Cavalcade?
Was it the same as last year and the year before... ?

Can't you find anything positive to say about anything? The parade was great fun, enjoyed by performers and onlookers alike. I look forward to going to a number of shows once again. Thank goodness for the festival, for the colour it brings to the city and for the money it brings in thereby keeping many businesses alive and people in employment.
Johnny Boy, Edinburgh
Well said Johnny Boy. And finally today, let's have some feedback on our story about overgrown cycle paths that are causing problems for cyclists. Would anyone care to deliver a pithy retort?
What's wrong with a bit of vegetation anyway? I vegetate every night in front of Big Brother with a giant bag of Doritos and I love it.

Perfect. Thanks M33.
