Let's have a look at what lurks among the ashes of a building site blaze – and stay tuned for some tattoo trouble.
No doubt about the weekend's hot topic – the towering inferno down Easter Road way.
We were just lucky there was no-one inside the building and that the flats were not finished. This could have been a massive loss of life.

Hear, hear, Franck. Now we've got the serious stuff out of the way, let the jesting commence!
Good of Hibs to provide shelter. I hope they didn't try to fob off the leftover pies though – they were rubbish on Saturday.

That will be the only flare/flair down near Hibernian these days, then?

Well, one thing's for sure – We All Love Looking at Big Fires. Have a look at that picture, take away the flames and imagine a big bunch of people staring at half-built buildings.
The Genuine Mario Antoinette
From half-built buildings to half-baked ideas – the city's education leader is on the sharp end of some criticism after objecting to an established tattoo parlour because children from nearby schools might... err... walk past it.
What about pubs and betting shops that children may walk past on a daily basis? Does the councillor want to close them as well in case they want to pop in for a quick pint and a flutter on the 2.30 at Doncaster?
Reverend Coleman
There was an "emigrate to Australia" shop near my old school, but I never did. There was also a garage and, I think, a cobbler's.
The Genuine Mario Antoinette
I had to walk past a sweety shop on my way to school. Ended up with terrible teeth that set off the alarms every time I go into an airport. Who can I sue?

There's a primary school on the Canongate, just up from parliament, and a dodgy bung's throw away from the City Chambers. I'd say the city's bairns were at greater risk from the actions of the occupants of both establishments than from some tattoo parlour.
Draco Was a Wimp, Edinburgh
Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations are also giving you the needle. The council is considering handing the whole shebang to a private company to run.
Put it out to tender – whoever expects the LEAST or NO public money should get it. In fact they should pay the city for the right to make money out of it.
Mallory, Edinburgh
Personally I want the whole thing ditched. Living in Edinburgh is nothing but a bind nowadays. We're over-run with tourists year in, year out, and while tourism should be encouraged in part, the city council should also remember who LIVES here and PAYS TAXES! Give us a bit of peace in our own town for a while!
Annoyingboi, Edinburgh
Get the hotels, restaurants and pubs who profit from the Festival to fund it. It always baffles me how Edinburgh is supposed to benefit. Certain Edinburgh-based businesses do very well, but the council and citizens get hee-haw.

Or to put it another way...
You can stick your New Year Party up your Scott Monument.
