Right said Fred; wrong you said. Posts too on CCTV, Brown's view on dope, and an (alleged) Daniel Bedingfield lookalike.
THERE was some uncommon support for the city's enforcers after Glasgow comedian Fred MacAulay's radio tirade about the number of parking tickets he has received.
No excuses – why shouldn't he get a ticket? They all say solo/mc on them whether they have a barrier down the middle or not.
Rigsby, Edinburgh
Thank goodness for the wardens - the city would grind to a halt without them. And they can't respond to these accusations.
PaulB, Edinburgh
He parked illegally and got a ticket. Grow up Fred, pay the fine and stop acting like a spoilt child.

If he thinks we should all park where we like, perhaps he should publish his address on the radio and we can all go and park in his garden

Fred a comedian? When are the April fools jokes going to stop?

In truth, some of you were behind Fred...
Well said Fred

The ordinary "man in the street" hasn't got enough clout to seriously challenge parking regulations or enforcement policy. It needs someone with a higher profile to bring matters to the attention of the relevant people. Why shouldn't Fred challenge the system? It seems only fair to me

If Fred MacAulay doesn't make some of you laugh, at least you were amused by the tale of the street fracas that ensued when a punter was accused of looking like Daniel Bedingfield.
The attackers should be locked up, if only for knowing what Bedders looks like in the first place!

Meanwhile the real criminal walks free – Daniel Beddingplant has been assaulting my ears for years.

Amazing how a few pints generally seems to be the root cause of such incidents.
Tr1xx, Edinburgh
No. Stupidity and being brain dead generally seems to be the root cause of such incidents.

Challenge someone to a fight, lose and get them done for assault? Hardly fair. The victim says he was "caught off guard". What was he doing, waiting for the bell?

I wonder if the incident was one of the many caught on the Capital's CCTV cameras. But, for all the arrests, you remain unimpressed by L&B's efforts.
CCTV might solve crime but does not prevent it. It would also be interesting to see how many of those allegedly arrested have been charged and then subsequently found guilty. The headline figures of number of arrests does not reflect the true picture
NorT, Edinburgh
15,000 incidents caught on camera and only 1881 arrests – good clear up rate.

Still on the subject of crime ... you take the liberal line on cannabis
Getting tanked up and terrorising your local high street after closing time might result in a fine of 80 for drunk and disorderly; sitting at home enjoying a jazz cigarette could result in imprisonment. A justice system to be proud of.

What a miserable, dreary, life-denying puritan Gordon Brown is.
Urban Guerrilla, Edinburgh
That's right Gordon. Lighten up. Even David Cameron enjoyed the odd little spliff.
