Meadowbank Stadium appears to be running out of time, leading some of our online readers to run out of patience City councillors have voted in favour of sending in the bulldozers at Meadowbank Stadium. Protesters have vowed to fight on, but there are mixed views among our online readers.

Oh good – more 'luxury housing' a smaller stadium with fewer facilities, and no new stadium at Sighthill either. What a joke this council is!

I wonder what it is in human nature that collectively we elect those to represent us who suffer from intellectual myopia? What a wonderful stadium, and one that all residents of Edinburgh were proud of as indeed other Scots too yet some dumb-dumbs from the 'Serves No Purpose' party with a few hangers-on who are seeking to discredit it make such a foolish decision. One almost smells the odour of corruption behind this move.

But not all of you will shed tears if the stadium bites the dust. In fact, some of you sound only too happy to grab a hard hat and sledgehammer and join in with the demolition.

Meadowbank in its current state is a disgrace. How anyone can argue it shouldn't be bulldozed down to the ground is beyond me – even the athletes who use it every day will welcome the new track.

Meadowbank athletic stadium & velodrome have done Edinburgh and Scotland well for the last 28 years, but to be honest they are the ugliest/worst stadiums/velodromes I've ever seen/ridden on (to be honest they are an embarrassment).

Meanwhile, spare a thought for the student who returned to his flat to find it had been broken into, not by a burglar, but by a major energy company demanding he pay his gas bill – despite the fact he doesn't have a gas account. Nevermind, how does 150 in compensation grab you?

They need to tighten up their procedures and the man is entitled to more than 150 pounds. I'd go for at least 7k for mental stress. Hopefully they will learn.

Hang on a second. Aren't we just getting caught up in gung-ho, let's bleed them dry, American-style compensation culture? Is that what you want? 'Cos that's what'll 'appen.

It's a door for goodness sake. No one hurt or injured. Demands for 10k are ridiculous and at the end of the day who pays? We do. Mistakes are made and I think a new door and a small sum of 150 is fair enough.

150 quid for a couple of hours' inconvenience seems fair. One phone call in response to the countless letters he would have received prior to the bailiffs would have prevented this.

Perhaps more care should be taken to ensure mistakes like this don't happen in future and, if they do, energy companies would do well to avoid certain residences.

I hope they don't do this at my place. I arm my house with lethal booby traps when I'm out.
