Your review: The Grapes of Wrath, King's Theatre

Colin Lambert, 53, engineer, Fountainbridge: "It was very good all round. The sets were very good and the lighting matched the context of the scene, it was the small things that really made it work. The script was a clever mix of comedy and sadness."

Campbell Burton, ten, school pupil, Ravelston: "It was well written and had a good plot but it was a bit cynical. I didn't like when those four people sang the bits in between. It was just very tacky, otherwise the plot was very well written and very believable. I liked the son, Tom, he had a genuine character and was very convincing. This was my first play and it was very good."

Jeremy Willing, 76, retired, Haddington: "It was absolutely brilliant. All the actors were extremely good. There was nobody you couldn't hear properly and I enjoyed having quite a big cast as well. The son was good but the mother, Ma Joad, was brilliant. She had a big part, and she played it very well, she was very believable. I enjoyed the musical interludes which provided a little bit of variety and were enjoyable."
