Your Review: The Elixir Of Love, Festival Theatre
Eleanor Bowen, 55, carer, Goldenacre: "I'm new to live opera – until now I'd never actually heard of this one.
" I really enjoyed it, of course it was very silly but then so are a lot of more famous pieces and the performers were clearly on top form. The man who played Dulcamara was a perfect showman and I loved his voice. The girl who played Adina was superb considering she wasn't the original in the role."
James MacNaughton, 66, retired solicitor, Grange: "A very nice piece, far from perfect but certainly very enjoyable. Dulcamara was very good, as was Belacore. Adina was much better than could be expected from someone taking on the role at short notice. Nemorino was a weak link, he felt too gormless, but perhaps that was how Donizetti imagined him."
