THE owners of a Glasgow bar targeted by a thief who broke in overnight and stole £7,000 from a safe have released CCTV images in a bid to catch the culprit.

Suzanne McLaughlin, who runs the Yesbar in Glasgow’s Drury Street, said she was ‘absolutely devastated’, adding: “Someone told them where our office and safe were and where to find keys.

“We had almost £7,000 taken. This is our rent money and staff wages.”

Staff were said to have been left shaken by the theft.

It is thought that the robbery took place between 5.30am and 6.30am on Monday morning.

Formerly known as the Vespbar, Suzanne and Jim McLaughlin changed the name of the pub just days before last year’s historic referendum on Scottish independence to reflect their voting intentions.

Police are carrying out an investigation into the theft.
