While I agree with nearly all the views expressed by Michael Kelly (Perspective, 5 September), I note that he thinks a Yes vote would be reversed at the first opportunity.

What of the Irish experience? After a decision of such importance and the bitterness that followed, the Irish, as individuals and in private, in many cases regretted their choice but national pride and the indifference in the UK silenced them.

This will apply in Scotland. A Yes vote is final. If the terms then negotiated are seriously against Scotland’s interests, will the SNP reject them and remain in the Union?
