Yellow fever jags on the up

THE rise in the number of jags given out to prevent yellow fever in the Lothians shows a more adventurous kind of holiday being taken by local people.

Latest figures show that in the Lothians more than 3,000 doses of the yellow fever vaccine were dished out, mainly to those visiting central and South America and Africa. If travellers expose themselves to the disease, which attacks the liver and kidneys, it can have dire consequences.
