WWF reveal renewable fears
ENVIRONMENTALISTS have criticised a UK government report stating that the North Sea could store 100 years worth of carbon for focusing too much on old, coal-driven power rather than embracing renewable energy sources.
Charles Hendry, minister of state for energy, was responding to a consultation on the licensing system for the storage of carbon dioxide emissions.
Richard Dixon, director of WWF Scotland, said: "This message is concerning because there are too many eggs in the carbon capture basket. This looks too much like trying to fix the old model to make it work, rather than embracing renewables."
