Heat kills 637

THE death toll from a two-week heat wave in southern India climbed to 637 yesterday, according to relief officials.

Scores of people suffering from dehydration and sunstroke were being treated at hospitals across the worst-hit state of Andhra Pradesh.

At least 81 more deaths were reported throughout the state yesterday.
