Bush pushes Palestine plan

PALESTINIAN and Israeli leaders were due to sit down for face-to-face meetings with George Bush today as the US president pushes the US-backed Middle-East peace plan.

"If all sides fulfil their obligations, we can make steady progress on the road toward Palestinian statehood, a secure Israel and a just and comprehensive peace," Mr Bush said before heading for Aqaba, Jordan, for a second round of talks with Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon and his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas.
