Bolivia set to free 1,600 prisoners

hundreds of inmates could be released next month under an amnesty decree issued by Bolivian president Evo Morales.

As many as 1,600 prisoners could be granted freedom by a judicial committee responsible for reviewing the sentences of inmates in January.

Under the decree, those eligible for release include handicapped prisoners, men over the age of 58 and woman over the age of 55.
