Woman jailed over '£180,000' drugs haul
A WOMAN who supplied enough amphetamine to make 18,000 deals was yesterday jailed for three years and four months.
Ada Mackenzie, 39, of Inverness, sold 18kg of the class B drug over a four-month period. At 10 per one-gram bag, it could have realised 180,000, but she claimed she had sold larger quantities and the proceeds had been only 37,000.
Mackenzie, who has a son and who worked as a delivery driver for a pharmacy, admitted being concerned in the supplying of amphetamine from her home between December 2007 and April 2008. Officers found 4,045 and 100g of the drug, the High Court in Edinburgh heard.
Mackenzie became involved at the request of a former partner who had written to her from jail, asking her to deal to pay off his 25,000 drugs debt. She, too, had been an addict.
