A WOMAN has been detained by police after a Valentine’s Day stabbing in the city.

A 49-year-old man from Dalry was rushed to hospital after the incident late last night.

He is said to be in a stable condition

Duff Street and nearby Springwell Place were cordoned off after reports of an incident surfaced.

Emergency services were called to an address in Duff Street and six police vehicles were on the scene by midnight.

A Lothian and Borders police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to an address in Duff Street, Edinburgh about 10.20pm last night following an alleged assault where a 49-year-old man was found to have suffered stab wounds.

“He was taken to hospital where he is in a stable condition.

“Police are following a positive line of inquiry and a woman has been detained.”
