Woman handed UK-wide ban for filthy takeaway
A WOMAN was yesterday banned indefinitely from running food-related businesses in the UK after her Scottish takeaway was found to pose a "constant threat" to public health.
Sameena Shahid, who ran the Almas Tandoori in Grahams Road, Falkirk, became only the second Scottish restaurateur to be given a Hygiene Prohibition Order, following a "catalogue" of food-safety contraventions, Falkirk Sheriff Court heard.
A food-safety team found breaches on various visits, including dirty scoops used for carrying oil dumped on top of vegetable pakoras and fans missing from ceilings that could have allowed rats and mice in.
