A WOMAN found in a street with serious burns has died in hospital.

Police were called after the 28-year-old was discovered in Selkirk’s Hillside Terrace at around 7.20am today.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service also attended.

The woman was taken to Borders General Hospital, where she died of her injuries a short time later.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this matter are ongoing.”

The street forms part of the A7, a key route through the Borders. The road was closed to traffic in both directions in the area while police carried out their investigations.
