Woman dies after becoming latest London stabbing victim
A YOUNG woman has become the latest victim of knife crime to die on London's streets.
Dee Willis, 28, received a wound to her upper body during an attack at around 11pm yesterday in Bellenden Road, close to Peckham High Street, in south east London.
She was taken to Kings College Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
The incident comes amid growing concern over knife crime in the city.
Yesterday, hundreds of teenagers took to the streets as part of a protest following the death of 16-year-old Ben Kinsella over the weekend. He became the 17th teenager to die a violent death in London since the beginning of the year and four teenagers remain in custody after being arrested in connection with his death.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair said: "I promise that the Met is in this for the long haul and we will do everything in its power to stop these murders continuing."
