Wildflowers added to Mill
MORE than 400 native wildflowers and plants have been planted at Springfield Mill in Midlothian.
The recent community event, which took place on the banks of the Bonnyrigg side of the River North Esk at Polton village, saw a huge variety of Scottish wildflower plants being planted in and around the ponds, including water mint, purple loosestrife and marsh marigold.
The event, run by Midlothian Council's ranger service, was designed to increase the amount and variety of plants in the area, with the aim of providing greater food and shelter for wildlife such as newts, beetles, and butterflies.
