Where's the justice?

Jack Straw's refusal to release Ronnie Biggs because Straw felt he wasn't sorry (your report, 2 July) shows that, indeed, the law in this country is the proverbial donkey.

Mr Straw – out of what seems less to do with justice or common sense and more to do with petty spite – has chosen to throw out the Parole Board's report that it is a massive waste of taxpayers' money to keep incarcerated this geriatric bit-part great train robber when there's a nation full of violent young thugs needing his cell.

The only risk Biggs poses to the nation is if he and the Sex Pistols recorded together again after a 30-year hiatus.
