What Ed Vaizey said when put on spot by Cathy Jamieson
Cathy Jamieson: "Surely in a situation where everyone seemed to be suggesting that tax breaks were a good idea prior to the election, it would have been incumbent then on the Chancellor to seek the views of the minister directly responsible for promoting the creative industries before he took a decision to scrap it?"
Ed Vaizey: "Well, I am quite low down on the food chain… obviously you have a secretary of state for business…"
Cathy Jamieson: "With respect, minister, you have made some play about the fact you are the minister responsible for the creative industries, and I am now concerned that you feel you are so far down the food chain, for a very important industry, and that the Chancellor would not take account of what you say. If you did not get a result the last time, what confidence then can we have that the Treasury will listen to you next time?"
Ed Vaizey: "Well, I walked right into that one."
