Wha's like us... MoonWalkers

LOTS of people do good things for charity in Scotland, but few in as eye-catching and dramatic a way as happened in Edinburgh last night.

An astonishing 12,000 women and men trekked through the capital to raise money for one of the most deserving of causes, most of them in decorated bras. In the past two years the MoonWalk has raised 4.5m and organisers hope last night's event will add another 3m for vital work in the fight against breast cancer.

Male and female, young and old, fit and not-so-fit, all took part. Some in the 13-mile half-marathon, others over the full 26-mile route. Some had very personal reasons for doing so – the illness or death of a mother, a sister, a wife, a daughter, an aunt. Others were remembering those men who have also been hit by cancer, including breast cancer.

What they all had in common was a determination not to stand by and do nothing about one of our biggest killers. Scotland on Sunday is proud to be associated with the MoonWalkers – and to pay tribute to them in our coverage today.
