Warrant issued for arrest of children's home woman

A SHERIFF has issued a warrant for the arrest of a woman at the centre of abuse allegations connected with a Scottish children's home in Renfrewshire.

The move comes after solicitors representing Janette Gault have been unable to make contact with her in recent days.

Gault, 67, of Ballycastle, in Northern Ireland, has failed to attend any pre-trial callings of the case at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Last week, the case was continued for seven days after her solicitor gave an undertaking that Gault would be examined by her own GP.

Yesterday, it was revealed she had failed to keep a doctor's appointment.

She faces a total of seven charges on indictment alleging she committed a string of offences between 1971-77 at Carnegie Park Children's Home.
