Warning on porn websites
CHILDREN are at risk from "YouTube-style" websites which offer free access to pornography without safeguards, the president of the British Board of Film Classification said yesterday.
Sir Quentin Thomas said a number of sites provide instant access to explicit video clips but make little or no effort to stop children viewing them or warn users about content. Three such sites are among the 50 most-used websites in the UK.
Introducing the BBFC's annual report, Sir Quentin wrote that efforts to regulate potentially harmful content on the internet were hampered by the fact that many of the websites are run from outside the UK.
