Vive l'Écosse?
A fervent nationalist, President Charles de Gaulle of France was noted for peppering his oratory with the name of his beloved country, once famously mentioning France 70 times in the course of an 11-minute speech.
In his article (Government & Public Affairs, 28 August), Iain Gray named Scotland 13 times, referred to Alex Salmond ten times and made five mentions of the SNP. Indeed, he went so far as to associate Mr Salmond with his own administration's flagship legislation.
Not once did he mention the Labour Party, nor say what policies he would pursue if he became leader of that party in Scotland, unless character denigration is a policy. Which side is Mr Gray on?
