Visitors to see a sign of a special Leith welcome
A NEW sign bidding visitors welcome to Leith is be formally unveiled by Edinburgh's Lord Provost.
The sign, which uses nautical flags to spell out the message 'I Love Leith", has been commissioned by the We Love Leith campaign group.
It will be unveiled by Cllr George Grubb at 11am next Tuesday, and marks the old boundary between Leith and Edinburgh, outside Pilrig St Paul's Church on Leith Walk.
In 2007, a spoof sign was put up in the area which said that Leith had been twinned with Rio de Janeiro.
The joke inspired an official bid to set up a link between the two places, though it ultimately failed.
