Police seek scrap thieves

POLICE are hunting metal thieves who made off with a number of wrought iron gates from a Lothian street.

The thieves have taken seven of the gates from Gardner Crescent in Whitburn, West Lothian, with the stolen property now totalling around 700.

A police spokesman said the thefts took place between February and July. He added: "These gates are expensive to replace and the homeowners have all been left out of pocket as a result of these thefts.

"Anyone who witnesses the theft of gates or any other metal should contact the police."
