Victim of fatal Fife shooting named

POLICE have named a wealthy businessman who was shot dead by a gunman who burst into one of his properties before then shooting the man's friend.

Releasing a photograph of the victim, Fife Police confirmed that the 38-year-old man was Mohammed Nameed Siddique, who has found dead in a ground-floor flat in Glenrothes, on Sunday night

Police found Mr Siddique, known locally as Toby, within the flat in Forres Drive.

Officers described the man they are looking for as an "armed fugitive".

Residents in the area said they thought Mr Siddique, who owned a property firm, had been there to throw a tenant out of a flat, before things went badly wrong.

A relative at the family's home in Dean Park Court in Kirkcaldy yesterday said the family was "too upset" to talk.

Police have now asked that the family be "allowed to grieve in peace".

Mary Carle, 35, who lives near the flat where the body was discovered, said Mr Siddique had a "heart of gold."

He said: "Toby was a very smart businessman. He was a great guy and a good laugh. He was always there for people with a cheery smile and he had a heart of gold, even when it came to his flats."

The second man injured in the attack was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline, but was later discharged.
