US releases BBC man held in Iraq

A BBC cameraman was released after being held in Iraq by the US for 26 days, a military spokesman said.

Ali al-Mashhadani, who also works for Reuters news agency and National Public Radio, had been detained twice before by the US, including a five-month stretch. On both occasions he was released without charge.

Reporters Without Borders said the military must halt what it described as arbitrary arrests of journalists in Iraq.
