University researchers in city grab a slice of £3.87m awards
UNIVERSITY researchers in the Capital are among those sharing awards totalling £3.87 million announced by the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
A total of 48 awards, sponsored by public and private bodies, were presented by education secretary Fiona Hyslop and RSE president Sir Michael Atiyah at a ceremony at Edinburgh Castle.
They will help fund research offering public benefits in areas such as healthcare, the ageing population, and environment.
Ms Hyslop said:
"In terms of Scotland's size, we are world leaders for the quality of our research, as demonstrated by the rate that our research is cited internationally. However, the commercial potential this creates is not always fully realised."
