Local plan for delivery network

LOCAL Letterbox, a new parcels delivery company, said it has attracted interest from more than 300 potential franchisees since its launch just two weeks ago.

Set up on the back of the growing online retail industry – which is creating a boom in parcel traffic – Local Letterbox is establishing a network of secure parcel shops where customers can collect deliveries.

The co-operative aims to open 2,000 stores nationwide by next summer, creating an estimated 10,000 jobs.

By 2018 the parcel market is expected to double to two billion deliveries but the existing network will reach capacity by the end of 2016.

Iain Wood, commercial director, said: “Our revolution in home delivery is gaining huge momentum. We have had an overwhelming response and commitment from master franchisees that has secured hundreds of dedicated shops in our network already.”
