Will he love you tomorrow?

ALMOST two-thirds of women have had a one-night stand, but nearly all of them regret it, a survey has found.

In contrast, men rarely have qualms about brief sexual encounters, and just under half say that no-strings sex is better than that enjoyed in a relationship.

For women, a one-night stand is usually a once- or twice-in-a-lifetime event, according to the poll for Cosmopolitan magazine.

But 30 per cent of women have one-night stands once or twice a month and 1 per cent most weekends.

Reasons women gave for succumbing to seduction included alcohol; getting over a break-up; chemistry; and "why not, we're consenting adults". But the morning after is often a day of regret.

Just under half had hoped for a relationship but were disappointed, and 62 per cent regret most one-night stands.

But 40 per cent of men say they would have a one-night stand any time and 49 per cent would never regret it.
