Watchdog criticises Galloway
GEORGE Galloway, the Scots-born MP, has been criticised by the broadcasting watchdog for using his position as a radio presenter to promote his own candidacy in a parliamentary seat.
The Respect politician announced on talkSPORT that he intended to stand in the next general election in the London constituency of Poplar and Limehouse. During the August broadcast, Mr Galloway made derogatory comments about the existing constituency Labour MP, Jim Fitzpatrick.
But watchdog Ofcom said: "This was a serious breach of the code where a sitting MP used his position as a presenter on a radio station to promote his own possible candidacy."
