Video link for activist

A CONTROVERSIAL animal rights activist said today he would speak to a major conference by video link despite being barred from Britain by Home Secretary David Blunkett.

American trauma surgeon Dr Jerry Vlasak is due to give the keynote speech at the international Animal Rights Conference 2004 in Kent next month.

Dr Vlasak has received a letter from the Home Office saying he will not be granted access to the UK, after he reportedly advocated assassinating a vivisectionist in a newspaper interview.
