Transplant awareness plan
A STUDENT whose life was transformed following a kidney transplant is trying to set a world record for encouraging people to sign up as organ donors.
Holly Shaw, 21, and a small army of volunteers, plan to cajole people into signing on to the organ donor register.
There are currently more than 8,000 people waiting for a transplant and last year 1,000 died due to a lack of available organs.
Holly, from Warrington, underwent a kidney transplant last year after a wait of more than three-and-a-half years.
She used World Health Day yesterday to publicise the importance of becoming a donor.
